BAND is a free communication app for groups. Our pack uses it to keep everyone up to date about what is going on with the pack. There are android and iOS apps available that you can install on your phone.
Make sure you have joined our group on BAND and have the app installed so you do not miss any important information!
Scoutbook is an advancement tracking tool. It also has messaging, forums, service, hiking, camping tracking and calendaring features. Our pack uses it primarily for advancement tracking.
If you registered for Cub Scouts online, a Scoutbook account should have been created for you automatically. Make sure you have access to a Scoutbook account for yourself and your scout's profile has been linked to yours. You will be able to use Scoutbook to view your scout's advancements, and when working on anything at home, mark off those activities so that your scout can be awarded.
The Cub Scout uniform is one of the methods of delivering the Scouting program. In addition to creating a sense of belonging, the uniform gives a scout the ability to display their personal achievements.
As your scout advances through the ranks of Cub Scouts, their uniform will change. Use the link below to get more detailed information about the uniform for your scout's rank.
Our pack understands that purchasing the full uniform can be costly. We consider the pants, socks, and hat to be completely optional. Many of our scouts do not wear those items. We often have secondhand uniforms available donated by prior scouts. If you are interested in a secondhand uniform, reach out to any of the pack leaders.
The official Cub Scout uniform described above is often referred to as the Class A uniform. This is the uniform our scouts wear when doing public events and for award ceremonies.
For regular den meetings and outdoor activities where we might get a little dirty, scouts are able to wear a Class B uniform. A Class B uniform is any Cub Scout t-shirt. There is a Pack 307 t-shirt available, but this could also be a t-shirt you bought from the scout shop, or a shirt you received for attending a campout.
If you have not received a Pack 307 t-shirt, check with any of the pack leaders to get more information.
Each rank in Cub Scouts has an associated handbook. The handbook is a written guide with details about all the adventures a scout can complete to earn his or her next rank.
Check with your den leader about whether or not the purchasing a handbook is required. The information in the handbook is generally available online with a little searching. If you are new to scouts, the handbook provides a lot of valuable information that can help you get started on your scouting journey.
The best place to get everything you need for your scout is the Scout Shop in Vandalia. We are fortunate that our council's scout shop is so close. The employees are excellent at helping you get everything you need, including all the right patches, and even offering sewing services. When you get there, just tell them you are in Pack 307, and they will make sure you get everything you need.
There is also an online store that can be used to purchase items for your scout. If you know exactly what you need, this can be a convenient alternative to the scout shop.
All participants in scouting activities are required to fill out a medical form. A medical form should be turned in for your scout after joining our pack.
Many of our pack outings are open to family members. Any family members participating in pack activities (parent, sibling, or otherwise) will also need to turn in a medical form as part of the registration for the activity.
The medical forms are valid for 1 calendar year. Each year you will need to submit an updated medical form.
